Our Team
Andy Melaragno, MD
(He/him/his)
Practice Owner, Psychiatrist
Dr. Melaragno is a board-certified psychiatrist in Boston, Massachusetts. He aims to provide exceptional mental health care which incorporates patients’ unique priorities and strengths into a customized plan encompassing complex diagnostic understanding, evidence-based medication approaches and integrative psychotherapy. Creating a safe and welcoming environment in which to do this work is of the utmost importance, with sensitivity to patients’ race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion and political beliefs.
His approach to psychotherapy is primarily psychodynamic in nature. This involves identifying patterns of interpersonal interaction and managing emotions which perpetuate suffering and block progress, and using the therapeutic relationship itself as a practice arena for new, more adaptive strategies. Tailored specifically to the patient’s diagnosis, success (or not) with previous therapy modalities and personal preferences, the treatment plan may incorporate elements from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness and relaxation techniques.
